Join professional artist Caitlin Allen for a morning of watercolor painting in her Maplewood garden. This class will focus on painting flowers within a landscape from observation in watercolor. Caitlin will start by giving a demonstration as we discuss composition, color mixing, and drawing techniques. You will then be invited to choose a place to paint within the garden which will be filled with perennial native wildflowers as well as some of Caitlin’s favorite annual flower varieties: dahlias, zinnias, cosmos, and globe amaranth. No previous painting or drawing experience is required, beginners and enthusiasts at all levels are welcome! You will go home with your completed watercolor painting and a fresh bouquet of flowers cut from Caitlin’s garden.

Shoes appropriate for walking on mulched paths and uneven grass are recommended. Wear comfortable clothing that will provide protection from the sun and the bugs since we will be spending the full morning working outside. A sunhat and sunscreen are recommended. Restrooms will be available inside. Folding chairs will be provided, however you are welcome to bring your own preferred outdoor chair. Enrollment is non-refundable, but you are welcome to send a friend in your place if you find you are unable to attend. In case of rain, the class will either be re-scheduled or canceled and a refund will be issued. Space is limited to 10 students.
